Everything you experience sends a wave of energy through your body and often leaves a trace.
When you’re short on time, this 5-minute meditation will guide you to release any unwanted imprints. After letting go of all your physical and mental clutter, you’ll start to focus on the positive energy you do want to fill you so it can manifest outwards into your life.
As it’s short, you can practise this meditation daily and make a habit of surrendering stress, anxiety, overwhelm or tension. You can practise in the morning (to start your day with intention), or at the end of your day (to clean house and recalibrate).
Start to get super comfy in an easy seated position and softly close your eyes. Notice how it feels to be in your body. Tune in to the natural rhythm of your breath and feel each inhale and exhale gently flowing in and out. Let yourself shift and drift a little from side to side as though you were swaying in the breeze. Enjoy the simplicity of that sensation for a moment, then feel your body drifting back to a nice still, balanced place at your centre as you ease your way into your meditation.
Scan your body from the crown of your head to the tips of your toes and see if there’s any tension lingering. Rest your attention on those parts that are holding tension; perhaps they feel tight, achy, numb or dull. Imagine taking your breath to those places and airing them out. Feel yourself soften and release some of that tension, with each full inhale and exhale.
With this awareness of your physical body, check in with where you’re at right now energetically. Are you carrying any energy that you don’t want? Cast your gaze over your inner body and notice where this energy might still be lingering. You might know what it’s related to but there’s really no need to dwell on it. This meditation will guide you to release any unwanted energy.
Breathe in deeply and breathe right into where you’re holding that energy, as though you were gathering it all up and then exhale it all out. It might feel good to breathe out through your mouth. Breathe however feels good here. Breathe in a way that gives you more relief and release. It doesn’t have to be a deep, full breath every time. But let it flow in a conscious sort of way. Let your body move along for the ride. Move with each inhale as it lifts you and gathers up the unwanted energy, and on each exhale as you soften and let it go. Breathe in, let it out and find relief in the release.
You can keep breathing into specific parts of your body here, or you can let your focus expand. There are energies that we’re all exposed to: fear, judgement, stress or self-doubt. Whatever it is, clear it all out and empty. Take a few more rounds of breath here. Give yourself permission to let go of anything that you don’t want and create more space to feel free.
Now shift your awareness back to your inhalation. Switch your intention to focus on the positive energy you do want to fill you. Perhaps it’s abundance, peace, happiness or ease. Whatever that is, start to embody the feeling of your intention.
Deepen your breath now and let your body move a little as you get ready to come out of your meditation. Be gentle with yourself. Keep the positive energy and your intention with you for the rest of your day and when you’re ready, take a deep inhale, smile and let your eyes blink open. Sit still for a moment and notice how you feel.
