The road to self love can feel vulnerable at times, but when you have the courage to go within and connect with your soul, you’ll find that you have everything that you could ever want, have or need, right there inside you. In this episode, I'll guide you through a Self-Love Meditation that will help you tune in to that place of love, peace and power - in minutes.
When our minds get lost in our limiting beliefs and we get stuck in feelings of self-doubt, our thoughts are often masking a deeper truth - a lack of self-worth and not being “enough”.
In today’s world, we’re conditioned to be better humans all the time, which leads us to feeling like we’re not (and never will be) enough. While goal-setting and self-discovery are potent tools for transformation, growth doesn’t necessarily mean changing who we are. It means becoming the highest expression of ourselves by clearing the blocks and opening up to the beauty of who we already are. Every day, I come back to my yoga mat or meditation cushion to go inwards, instead of looking outside of myself for validation. And I always find what I need.
The key to cultivating this new pattern in your life is to unlock real self-love. Remembering and believing that you’re worthy of love - especially your own…
So, find yourself in a comfortable seated position or lie down and close your eyes. Tune in to your breath and feel yourself soften as you relax into each inhale and exhale, each one becoming a little fuller, deeper and longer. Use your breath to bring yourself home and explore how you feel. Choose curiosity over judgement and let that bring you into the present moment.
Now interlace your fingers to your first knuckle, thumbs pointing up and place your hands over your heart, just below your collarbone. This mudra instills confidence and will help you harness this energy in your body. Take a full inhale. And exhale completely.
As you breathe in, in the quiet space of your mind, say to yourself “I am worthy” and as you breathe out, “I am enough”.
With each inhale, infuse your breath with appreciation for yourself. With each exhale, release all limiting beliefs.
Breathe in and silently say to yourself “I am worthy” and breathe out, “I am enough”.
Notice how you feel as you say these words. This is a remembering of who you really are.
If your mind wanders, gently guide your attention back to rest on your breath. It’s in the nature of the mind to wander. And your thoughts will come and go, just like your breath. Let them float away like clouds. You are not your thoughts. And no thought sways you from your centre.
Now visualise looking into a mirror and gaze into your eyes. What do you see? What do you feel?
Regardless of what you see or feel, tell yourself: “I love you”. Feel a deep sense of appreciation for all the different, unique parts of you. There has never been and there will never be another you. Fold your hands into a prayer now and allow that feeling of gratitude to swell in your heart. Make a silent devotion here as you say to yourself: “I choose to love myself fully”. Make this commitment your daily mantra.
Breathe into your heart space and visualise love pouring in. Imagine yourself lighting a candle as you sit at the altar of your own heart. As you breathe, your lungs are like bellows and the flame grows brighter. This is your inner light and it’s shining, purifying any negative thoughts and limiting beliefs.
From your heart centre, to the rest of your body, this warm light wraps you in a hug. You are held. You are nourished. You are supported. You are loved. Let this energy calm you and soothe you as you remember that you have everything you could ever want or need right inside you.
Take one more full inhale and exhale a sigh of relief, knowing that you can turn within and access this loving, peaceful space whenever you need it. Bow your brain down towards your heart, in gratitude, sealing your practice. And when you’re ready, curl your lips up into a smile, keeping that on your face as you lift your gaze and blink your eyes back open.
May this practice help you build a stronger relationship with yourself, the courage to show up authentically and the confidence to share your unique gifts with the world.
