Finding a moment, just to feel better and happier, can help us lean into the light, and spark an inner source of hope, strength and resilience, which is so needed right now. Our energy is everything and by raising our own vibration, we can raise the vibration of the planet. So let's take 5 minutes to meditate together…
Intro: You're listening to The Prana + Patchouli Podcast with me, Amy Davies. I'm a restorative yoga teacher and every week I'll be sharing practice tips, spiritual tools, breathwork and guided meditations to reduce stress and raise your vibration. Spring is here, the weather is getting warmer, and I'm definitely feeling happier!
But, there's still a lot of sadness in the world and I've found myself wondering…
Am I allowed to be happy when so many people are suffering right now?
Then I remember that our own pain can never relieve someone else's.
In reality, the more joyful we are, the more positive energy we put out. And it's that frequency of peace, love and joy that has the capacity to change the world.
Maybe you've heard of the Maharishi Effect?
Back in the 70s, a study was carried out where a group of monks, representing 1% of the population, was sent into high crime communities to meditate. Over time, the crime rate dropped 16%! This shows the power of the meditative joyful energy to shift the energy of the collective consciousness, and this phenomenon became known as the Maharishi Effect, (named after the spiritual teacher, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who first theorised it as he sought world peace).
So, if you're in need of a boost today, I’m going to guide you through a 5-minute Happiness Meditation that will not only help to raise your own vibration - but also that of the planet.
Let’s meditate together now.
Find somewhere quiet to sit and gently close your eyes. Practise Pratyahara as you withdraw your senses and distill the outer world. As you retreat a little deeper inside, just notice how you feel today.
Observe the parts of you that feel peaceful and happy, but also heavy or sad. Breathe into all of those parts of you, filling up with every inhale, and emptying out with every exhale.
Now bring to mind a memory of a time when you felt truly happy. Let it spark something in your heart. Breathe into that feeling in your body, inviting in happiness, and breathe out any blocks to your joy.
Now, as those images fade, the feeling remains. Continue to breathe in that light, reminding yourself that happiness isn’t something that you find “out there”, it’s right here, within you, and you can tap into it at any time.
Take one more full breath in and breathe out, completely. Curl the corners of your mouth into a smile, and keep that on your face as you open your eyes to the room.
Finding a moment, like this, just to feel happier, can help us lean into the light, and spark an inner source of hope, strength and resilience, which is so needed at this time, right?
As yoga teaches us... We may not be able to control what's happening "out there", but we can control how we respond and feel "in here".
With our daily practice, we can become spiritual activists, and through our positive energy field, we can bring forth healing to everyone around us, and create a ripple effect of peace and joy in the world.
So, let’s close out this episode with this week’s mantra:
My high vibes empower others to raise their own. Happiness is my priority.
My hope is that this helps you feel a little bit better and lifts you up today!
